Jamaica Has a New Birth Certificate
As of March 2023, Jamaica has a new, more secured birth certificate.
A certificate is an official government-issued record of a person’s birth, death, adoption or marriage printed on security paper and includes deeply engraved ‘blind’ embossing, Watermark, and engraved texts.
These ne certificates were introduced by the Registrar General’s Department (RGD) on February 1, 2023 eradicate fraudulently produced certificates. These fraudulent produced certificates are often used to obtain genuine documents needed to create new identities.
Prsons continued to find creative ways to create new identities so the RGD had to find new way to prevent fraud and protect us from identity thefts. To protect against fraud the RGD implemented computer generated certificate instead of the handwritten ones.
The black and white certificates ceased circulation in 2002, and customers are encouraged to apply for the computer-generated copy with special security features, widely accepted to transact business and which are harder to duplicate unlike the hand written version.
The Certificate of Registry ‘pink slip’ is not a birth certificate. If you are still have the pink slip or the black and white handwritten birth, death, adoption and marriage certificates apply now for a replacement computer-generated certificate. Contact us. We can help
