Getting to the Ferry

Parking near the ferry terminal can be challenging, especially since the nearby lot only allows six hours of parking. To avoid the hassle, I opted for an Uber ride, which was both convenient and stress-free. If you're planning a trip, I recommend doing the same to start your day off right.

First things first. Let;s talk about the beauty and the fashion. This is what I would expect landing on a famous island like Nantucket. Before I even arrived at the island i knew from the ferry that style would abound. Nantucket is a place where timeless charm meets coastal elegance, and from the moment you step off the ferry, you're enveloped in its beauty and quaintness. The cobblestone streets are lined with historic homes adorned with weathered shingles and blooming hydrangeas, giving the island an almost storybook feel. Everywhere you look, there’s a sense of understated luxury that is effortlessly chic. The fashion on the island reflects this vibe, with visitors dressed in stylish yet comfortable attire. Shades of blue and white dominate the scene, from crisp linen shirts to breezy sundresses, perfectly complementing the island’s nautical heritage. It’s clear that while everyone is relaxed, they’ve also paid attention to their style. I did not know the preferred color but i came pretty close in my teal. My dress was the toast of the day. I got a million compliments on it. If you’re planning a visit, take a cue from the locals and pack outfits that are both fashionable and functional—think soft fabrics, classic stripes, and a touch of maritime flair.

Breakfast at Lemon Press

After disembarking the ferry, I stopped at Lemon Press, a local favorite for breakfast. Their fresh, organic offerings were the perfect fuel for a day of exploration. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal or something light, Lemon Press has something for everyone.

I was running late for the bus tour so I grabbed my breakfast to go and I hopped on the tour bus which i booked with the ferry. You will see the option in your shopping cart when you go to pay for the ferry. The tour took us through the picturesque countryside of Nantucket, with stops at some of the island’s most iconic spots, including a famous lighthouse. The natural beauty of the island is truly breathtaking, with rolling hills, pristine beaches, and charming historic homes. This tour is 2.5 hours. If you are not a nature lover do the one hour tour.

One of the highlights of the tour was learning about the rich African American history on the island. Nantucket has a deep and significant history as a whaling hub, and African Americans played a crucial role in this industry. The African Meeting House, now a national heritage site and museum, offers an insightful look into this history. The museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in the cultural heritage of Nantucket. There was no lighthouse stop included in this tour but all the passengers on the bus were clamoring for one so the guide drove us to one of the famous lighthouses.

Beach and Bar: A Perfect Combo

After the tour, I headed to one of Nantucket’s beautiful beaches to relax and soak up the sun. . . actually I took a taxi to the beach but I was only there for the views. The sun was on 100 that day. The beach is perfect for sunbathers, and there’s even a nearby bar where you can enjoy a cool drink after a day of exploring.

After the beach I went to the famous ice-cream shop to see what the fuss was about. The line was not going around the block as it usually is. The ice-cream was actually really delicious. I always forget the flavor I get but my please might not be yours so try your own…it’s ice-cream…you cant go wrong. After that it was almost time to catch the ferry. I chose a ferry time that would see me back on Cape Cod early since the ferry ride is very long.
